Boosting the Immune System

If there is one thing that I love most besides fixing my chronic gut issues, it’s the fact that Byron and I both haven’t had the cold/flu for 2 years! We use to have a nasty flu every year, sometimes twice and I remember it being the most terrible feeling. Especially the first couple of days when you’re temperature is so high that your body is aching and it’s so uncomfortable to keep still as the virus is multiplying and circulating throughout your body. We used to be so thankful for our health a week or two later when the flu was finally over. The only down side was that we still used to have a consistent scratchy throat and feel run down throughout the whole of winter. Being a primary school teacher, I used to constantly bring home germs and then pass them onto Byron… I used to take Olive Leaf Extract every single day to boost my immune system, until I got told that it isn’t good for you to use on a daily basis. What was I to use then? I was also already eating multiple cloves of garlic on a daily basis and had my flu shot ever year. Wow, how much I’ve changed since then…. I won’t even touch a Panadol these days, let alone a flu shot or cold/flu tablet. Have you read the possible side effects? My daily protocol for boosting the immune system, naturally….

I don’t go a day without using On Guard Essential Oil:

This oil blend is an essential in every household as it can actually penetrate into the cell wall and kill any virus and bacteria, therefore stopping the virus from multiplying and spreading throughout your body. Did you know that cold and flu tablets can’t do this? They just mask the pain. I use two drops of On Guard on a daily basis either under my feet or in my smoothie. If you have sensitive skin, dilute with fractionated coconut oil. For children 6 years and above, dilute one drop of On Guard in fractionated coconut oil and rub under their feet. We have protocols for babies and toddlers too. Email us for an information sheet and for more information about On Guard here. Lifelong Vitality Pack:

We already eat an organic and clean diet, although we also take supplements on a daily basis as we noticed a big difference when we started using the Lifelong Vitality pack. The pack contains three supplements: Omega 3 (There is also a vegan friendly version), multi-vitamin and cellular complex. They are the highest quality that you can get in Australia and they also contain essential oils. Doctors and scientists have formulated the products so you are getting the exact amount of nutrients on a daily basis. Boosting the immune system is one of the many things that they do. Read more about them here.

On Guard Softgels:

These little capsules are an amazing blend of Oregano (natural anti-biotic), On Guard, Black Pepper and Melissa (Lemon Balm) essential oils. They are also known as the flu bomb in a bottle, because they get you feeling better super-fast, as you have all of the oils working together to boost your immune system and you are putting antioxidants into your body. Throughout Winter I use these on a daily basis for extra support. Read more about them here.

Eat Well:

These are the top 10 foods I recommend for boosting your immune: citrus, carrot, turmeric, garlic, papaya, ginger, pineapple, protein, wheatgrass and berries.

Rest:

Make sure you are getting enough sleep every night so that your body has time to repair and rejuvenate. If you find it hard to wind down then I recommend some calming oils such as: Cedarwood, Lavendar Peace, Vetiver, Lavender and Balance essential oil.

Stress:

Managing stress is essential, not only for your immune system but your overall health and wellbeing. I use oils on a daily basis to help manage my mood and keep me balanced. My favourites are: InTune, Ylang Ylang, Elevation, Balance and Lavender Peace.

Eliminate Toxins:

Check out http://doterrablog.com/ for some inspiration on how to make your own natural cleaning products, soaps, body products, etc. Be warned, it’s a very addictive website as there are so many great ideas.

Exercise:

I know it can be harder to get motivated sometimes when it’s so cold outside and you want to stay snuggled up, although it is important to keep moving, even if it is just 30 minutes of yoga or a walk on a daily basis. You can do it! 🙂

Sunshine:

I love sitting out in the sunshine during the colder months to get my daily vitamin D dose. If you are super busy, eat your lunch in the sun for at least 5 minutes, it will make you feel a whole lot better.
